I am shamed to say that I am a resident of the same state where the much covered bullying incident that resulted in the suicide of a 15 year-old student took place, South Hadley, Massachusetts. The events uncovered and chronicled in national and local media are nothing less than a train wreck. This is a typical cover-up from the involved school officials in a rush to finger point everyone except themselves. It is nothing short of appalling.

Even yesterday, when CNN tried to interview the principle of the high school, the reporter had the door slammed in her face with a promise to call the police if she did not vacate the property. One of the worst revelations as chronicled by today’sBoston Herald is this: “Indeed, on the day Phoebe die, one of the accused bullies wrote ‘accomplished’ on her status on her Facebook page.”

There is plenty of blame to go around here, staff, teachers, school officials, and state officials. Lack of communication is at the heart of this nightmare. They should all be fired, though that certainly will do nothing to ease the heartbreak of the Prince family. To really get a sense of what transpired, today’s piece in the Boston Herald is a wake up call.
