 Who: We are looking for someone who is 150% passionate about PR, a leader, a mentor, a creative thinker and someone who is not afraid to get their hands dirty. This dynamo loves to work in the trenches with a team (our family), to deliver the absolute best outcome for clients. This person is a hard worker, a juggler that can switch gears quickly and brilliantly, is smart, responsive, has superior writing skills and has the desire to raise the bar. Must be detail oriented, able to manage multiple projects, budgets and goals, and work under tight deadlines. We want someone that will add value to our team and has the ability to think critically. This person will co-lead the agency with Chris Goddard, founder and president, and will be the lead when Chris travels, which is (50% of the time) often.

This person should be fun, knowledgeable, witty, able to meet deadlines, juggle multiple tasks, have a “wants to celebrate after a great day of hard work and make clients ecstatically happy” attitude, meaning does what it takes to get the job done and celebrates with the team. They shouldn’t mind working out of a really special and historical house in Marblehead, maybe have a love of Twizzlers, and also enjoy working on a beautiful outside deck on sunny days.

Objective: To lead the team, to deliver the best strategic outcomes for our clients, grow the business and meet billable goals.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing, or English required.

At least eight or more years of public relations (account management, public relations, etc.) experience required.

Agency experience and proven media track record.

Experience in consumer active lifestyle

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

80% account management/20% new business

 Co-lead the agency with the president

Oversee all strategy, development of organizational client messaging and marketing plans for accounts.

Monitor and control the agency revenue growth and profitability

Work in tandem with Chris Goddard to actively pursue new business opportunities.

Provide counsel to agency staff to help manage the overall workload and knowledge level

Maintain top-level client contact

Represent the agency at new business and other meetings as needed

Lead new business and agency retention efforts. This includes scouting new

business opportunities in collaboration with the senior leadership team, analyzing research, writing public relations proposals and plans, and making presentations to potential clients.

Oversee account planning, revenue growth, profitability, work quality, client relations and strategic development

Set the tone to create a spirit of teamwork (enthusiasm and high quality) and excellence.

Strategize, motivate, coach and direct the staff in the performance of their daily responsibilities.

Serve as senior counsel for senior level clients.

Participate in media relation’s functions and maintain media contacts with the highest profile national, trade and/or regional targets.

Coach and advise direct reports on pitching media on client’s behalf.

Review and approve annual public relations plans and campaigns before they are presented to clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct liaison on a daily basis with clients and the media.
  • Relationship building and networking with colleagues, clients and media.
  • Monitoring the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires, social media sites and blogs, for opportunities for clients.
  • Working as part of an account team to develop client proposals and implement PR strategy.
  • Preparing regular client reports and attending client meetings.
  • Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media.
  • Promoting news stories and features to the media.
  • Collating, analyzing and evaluating media coverage.
  • Attending and providing support at industry trade shows.
  • Undertaking research for new business proposals and presenting to potential new clients.

PAID INTERNS FOR Summer 2018 Beginning May, 2018

CGPR is looking for two full-time paid public relations interns for Spring/Summer 2018, with internship beginning May 28, 2018 through August 31, 2018. Students must be pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, or a related field. Our interns become active members of our account teams participating in client calls, strategy sessions, media relations, research and event planning.
